Summer Fling
Led by the fiery vocalist Hayley Williams, pop rockers Paramore have become a force to be reckoned with since their debut five years ago. Coming off the biggest U.K. tour of their career, the group have returned to the U.S. as headliners of this summer’s Honda Civic Tour. In support are noted indie darlings Tegan and Sara, who just put out their sixth studio album, Sainthood. Also along for the ride are pop punk groups New Found Glory and Kadawatha. Strong Songstresses
Spearheaded by singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan in the late 1990s, Lilith Fair was a beacon of female empowerment and one of the biggest summer tours of that era. Over a decade later, the all-woman fest is back, boasting headlining acts like McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Court Yard Hounds (featuring Martie Maguire and Emily Robison of Dixie Chicks), Cat Power, and many more. This Tuesday's tour stop at Merriweather also benefits Women Empowered Against Violence, a D.C. charity chosen via online voting. Great talent and social causes make this show a can’t-miss celebration of women in music.

Wide Variety
Japanese collective Boris have worked hard to defy genre classification, creating a wide range of music including experimental rock, metal, and punk. After almost twenty years, the band is focusing on their heavier rock tunes with the release of Variations, a greatest hits album. Along with instrumental post-metal band Russian Circles and heavy metal band Disappearer, Boris’ upcoming show at 9:30 Club will be an eclectic and electric mix of sounds.
