| So it was last April that Meg
Zamula, aka A
Girl Called Destruction, spun with us. In honor of her return this
Friday, we commissioned WaPo scribe David Malitz to pen a bio of sorts: Meg is a longtime indie pop iconoclast and it-girl around D.C., dating back to her days lording over WMUC as both program and music director. She used to write for a bunch of various media outlets and, as in everyday life, pulled no punches. A negative review she wrote for Pitchfork about some bullshit Swirlies record resulted in the band penning a mini-album response entitled "Winsome Zamula's Hammer of Contumely," which concluded with the song "But In Her Dying Throes She Takes Hammer to Her Foes." Alas, those dying throes are not quite upon us yet as this week marks the one-year anniversary of Meg's successful spinal fusion surgery. So consider this Friday evening a celebration of both indie pop and her continued ability to walk. Comet Gain b-sides for everyone! Quite. As ever, this month's Streaming Piss is at www.dcsoundclash.com, and then you click Taking the Piss 03.19. Hope to see you Friday. WHERE: Marx Cafe, 3203 Mt.
