Pick-Me-Up
After opening for Muse this past spring with their layered, distorted guitars and complex melodies, Silversun Pickups are heading out to showcase their own intricate sounds. Sharing the stage is seasoned punk rock outfit Against Me!, who recently put out their fifth album, White Crosses. Also on the bill are L.A. rockers The Henry Clay People. Rebellion Rock
While North Africans Tinariwen are known for their mix of American blues rock and traditional West African music, this Tuareg unit’s back-story is equally as remarkable. First in a training regiment put together by Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi, and then as freedom fighters in the Tuareg rebel movement, the members moved around North Africa, meeting and gaining new members and influences. Now, with four albums released worldwide, these musical rebels are touring the United States. Catch their 9:30 Club performance this Friday for some sweet sounds that span the globe.

Across the Pond
Long admired for their well-crafted, heavily melodic blend of indie rock and chamber pop, Matt Pond PA surprised longtime fans with 2007’s back-to-basics, straightforward rock album, Last Light. Now, three years later, the band has reintroduced strings and made a return to form with their eighth record, The Dark Leaves.
