The changes in version 4 are the result of the turning point initiated already in 2019 with the depreciation of the deployment tool (Java Webstart).

The major changes are:
  • Replace the Substance theme manager with FlatLaf which is more modern and supports HiDPI for icons and fonts (changing the scale factor). It also contains better integration with operating systems (e.g. the main menu in the window bar).
  • Substitution of all bitmap icons by scalable SVG icons
  • Weasis is based on a new API for rendering images (W/L, overlay...)
  • Data export: Improve DICOM export with new options (generate new UIDs, transcoding). Improve export with other formats: Add export to TIFF and JPEG 2000. Added new DICOM options (pixel padding, overlay, shutter).
  • Removal of Java Web Start. Only the official distribution by an installer for each system remains. This allows better management of the target platform and the associated Java version.
  • Move to Java 17 (runtime and language specifications)
  • Updated documentation and tutorials
See the other elements of the release notes.

Weasis 4 can be downloaded here or on Sourceforge.
As this version contains many changes, please report any problems you encounter here.

I liked the new theme.

Maybe I'm missing something, but is there any way to make search criteria persistent in an open session?

I also like the improved Data export, but would love to see export the current view to clipboard implemented to a simple shortcut, like ctrl+c

Thanks for your work.

The search criteria are not retained when the import window is closed. However, it is possible to save the chosen criteria with the Save button (below criteria). This allows you to restore the values even after closing the application. For example: choosing only the CT modality and the Today date allows you to have the CTs of the day by selecting the item in the combo box.

The ctrl-c has been removed because it is necessary to choose export parameters before saving either to file or to clipboard (see the first screenshot).

 Thanks for your response!

I know the save search feature and it is great. But sometimes a persistent search in session adds more flexibility.

The ctrl-c is interesting to fast capture views "as displayed", so the parameters are already chosen on what you see in the screen, without the need to dig into menus.

Great work as always.
