Delete multiple versions of same images

Hi All,

in my archive there are many images that have more different versions, dcm4chee accepts these images because they present different md5.

There is a procedure to clear the old versions of the images and keep only the latest versions returned by dcm4chee?

Why are those images different?
Are them modified? Anotated? Different compression?

the images are modified, some tags (public and private) are modified.
