Thanks for reporting this issue. There was a bug in code which assumed that notifying HL7 receivers of update is to be done together with mwl status update. This has now been separated.

As a workaround, to test Update MWL status to COMPLETED for received studies feature, you may also configure Notify HL7 Receiver of changes in status of Requested Procedure

For testing purpose you can also use hl7rcv tool provided in the dcm4che toolkit.
