Hello from Argentina,
I introduce myself, I am an electronic engineer, but I have devoted myself to the field of information technology, and I am in charge of the information technology/systems sector of the public hospital Prof. Dr. Luis Güemes.
First I really want to congratulate the creator of weasis, because it is an incredible tool, and encourage him to continue working on it. From now on, any contribution of ideas that you can offer and/or solutions, count on me.
The point of this forum entry is to see the possibility of improving the Dicom printing function. Apparently from what I've tried it depends a lot on the resolution of the PC screen to build a grid and then print it. But this means that at most, with a fullhd monitor you can only print 6 images per film. Also, when printing, the proportions of the images are respected, which is perfect, but it causes a lot of space to be wasted without images.
My suggestion is: use dicom grid (row, column) standard instead of screen subdivision. And on the other hand, to be able to add the Patient Name label in the film.
I don't know if it's possible, but it would be very useful and it's a good change to keep in mind for future versions.
Attached is an image of what the waste of film looks like.

Thank you in advance for your time in reading this comment, and I am available if you need suggestions if you want to implement it.

The problem of managing layouts during printing is known. It should be decoupled from the visualization layouts for which are determined by the size and resolution of the screen.

But unfortunately, it requires a lot of work to make a preview of what will be printed and moreover as already explained this task is not on my priorities.
