Hello
I want to configure image compression.  I found out 2 service and they are 
jmx-console->Service=StoreSCP
jmx-console->Service=CompressionService

why there are 2 way to image compression. Do i have configure both. How should i configure and confirm it. any help pls.My storage is almost full.

i found out in my database "pacsdb" on table "files" in column "file_tsuid"  only show this value "1.2.840.10008.1.2". Is this any kind of compression. is my configuration correct. 

i want compress after the data store. How should i fix this.

Hi,

As your explained there are 2 types of compression

1. Storage SCP or on-the fly compression : In some cases, the compression is required as soon as an Study or image is received. This could be used to have faster access to images, to save network latency if the workstation accepts compressed TransferSyntax.  Check this link for more information.

2. Compression Service or delayed compression. Good for archival or consume less storage and avoid un-necessary delay and processing during Q/R. This link will provide you more info. 

You have to decide between Network latency and Storage Efficiency. If Network Latency then On-th-fly compression is recommended. If you are looking at storage Efficiency, have the images in the RAW format for couple of weeks and post the peak retrieval time, you can compress the images to archive max storage optimization.
