Hi Everyone,

Loving Weasis, just have a few quick questions and would appreciate anybody's help.

#1.

When Weasis is first run on a computer, there is a disclaimer that is displayed to the user. On subsequent runs this disclaimer is not displayed. Is there an option to always display this disclaimer?

#2.

We are trying to use Weasis on USB and DVD media exported from our PACS. However the location of the DICOM images is in the parent folder relative to the Weasis executable.

To explain further, the file path for Weasis is:

E:\Weasis\viewer-win32.exe

The file path for the DICOM directory and DICOMDIR file is like so:

E:\DICOM\
E:\DICOMDIR (this is a file and not a folder).

I have  edited the configuration file by adding "..\" to the portable dicom directory property, and this was successful in making Weasis automatically load the patient images from the parent folder. Please see configuration line below.

##### For loading DICOMs automatically in the portable Weasis distribution. Comma-separated directories relative to the Weasis executable file.
# Ex. subdirectory : images/dicom,my images/dicom
weasis.portable.dicom.directory=dicom,DICOM,IMAGES,images,..\

However, for some reason Weasis loads unwanted images from E:\Viewer\Thumbnails.
This makes Weasis list extra images under the patient "UNKNOWN".

Can I specifically configure Weasis to load the DICOM folder only, or the specific DICOMDIR file to avoid this issue? I think this issue occurs because is due to the folder structure of the USB and DVD, but is there any work around for this?

Kind Regards,
Julie

No, the option is to remove it. The disclaimer is displayed for each user in a session. Your are the first one to make this request. In general we ask me how to remove it.

Yes this syntax is correct but you should have a directory after (..\images), otherwise all the sub-directories will be scanned. In the import interface, it is possible to scan recursively or not a folder but not in the configuration for the portable launch.

If you place a DICOMDIR in the a referenced folder, only the files referenced in the DICOMDIR should be loaded.

Thanks Nicolas for your quick reply and support.

To leave the disclaimer there is to ensure that all users see the message. Especially important if we are distributing CD's or USB's to clinicians.

I will try the file path fix and report back.

OK UPDATE:

I am trying to load images in the DICOM folder, placed in the parent folder of the Weasis folder.

I tried to set the path to "..\DICOM" but it failed to load any images on the media at all.

I also tried:

..\DICOM\
../DICOM
../DICOM/
..\/DICOM
..\.\DICOM

Any ideas?

Regards,
J

The syntax should be ../DICOM but there is an issue on Windows.

I fixed the issue, so in the next release ../DICOM will work for all the systems.

A workaround on Windows is ..\\DICOM but this syntax won't work on other systems.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks that's very helpful.

When you say next release do you mean v2.6? or the version that will be after v2.6?

How often do the next releases come out?

J

Unfortunately It was just after releasing 2.6. The next release should before mid November.

I've discovered that you can't seem to load DICOMDIR if Weasis portable is in a child folder.
Version (3.0.1) will load anything in "..//" via viewer-win32.exe -l "..//"
Weasis won't check for DICOMDIR. The only way I have managed to get the DICOMDIR file loaded is by moving Weasis into the parent folder which is not a possibility on CD.
Can a rule be made to read the DICOMDIR file as this is not read from the config.properties "..//DICOMDIR"  ?
