The plugin architecture NPAPI (used by Java Plugin for Applet) was supported by all major web browsers. Google plan to completely remove NPAPI by late 2015 in Chrome (already removed on Linux without solution to run Applet). Firefox also removed NPAPI but Java Applet can be run now with a new plugin API (PPAPI). And Safari make it incompatible with DevMode.

Unless Oracle decide to make a PPAPI plugin for the different browsers (no sign they will do it), it will become difficult to run an applet. The Java Web Start technology does not have the same problem because the jnlp file can be run directly by the system (not the browser).

Thanks Nicolas for prompt reply,

I have checked it with JWS mode and it is working but every time it downloads .jnlp file and need to open it for each studies/patients and that's won't be user-friendly.

And one more minor critical thing I have noticed, all 25 plugins loading slowly each time even if you could try it (http://dicom.vital-it.ch:8089/weasis-pacs-connector/viewer-applet?patientID=26092) on Google Chrome MAC , loading all 25 plugins for each request. Could you, please guide me how can we make plugins loading faster for each request or another alternative.

Thanks

Yes, the configuration describes here is not working anymore. It seems jnlp is not considered any more as "safe files" and there is no way to configure those "safe files" in safari.

Plugins should be downloaded only once if they are not changing. This is not a a known issue. Please try to clean Java Web start cache and delete the directory "user/.weasis". If you are behind a proxy, configure it in the Java panel.

I just tried on OS X 10.9 and 10.11 and the plugins are loaded only the first time!

This problem could happen when using OpenJDK and IcedTea on Linux and if you build a distribution containing plugins with a SNAPSHOT version (this is a desired behavior for testing).
