We need an open source RIS and PACS to simulate the working environment for our application, which will be a part of an existing hospital IT system. Basically we need to communicate RIS and PACS to get the MWL and save images.

The dcm4chee may be a good PACS but which open source RIS can be used with dcm4chee in our case?

Thanks,
Peter

If MWL is all that is necessary maybe Mirth Connect would suffice.
It really depends a lot on the current infrastructure and objectives.
We are currently evaluating if we are going to adapt Odoo (an ERP we use in some customers, and ourselves) for a RIS or wait and help with the OpenMRS radiology module.

I am curious to see other responses here.

We had a similar conversation a couple of years back (see https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/dcm4che/OPenMRS/dcm4che/Gi3n2z6iDVA/-0DaOsEpyycJ) and I do not think much has changed since.
To my knowledge, OpenMRS with the DCM4CHEE Radiology module is the closest thing available to an opensource RIS. It has some shortcomings but is ok if all you need to do is send orders to DCM4CHEE to populate the MWL.
I like the idea of adapting ERP to use as a RIS but unfortunately, with my current workload, I haven't got time to further investigate.

So are you saying the OpenMRS Dcm4Che Radiology module is ready for MWL? We are not looking for other function right now.

Yes you can place an order for an imaging procedure in OpenMRS and it will send an HL7 ORM message to DCM4CHEE which will then create a MWL item.

Several years ago I did an integration of CC RIS with DCM4CHEE but it was not easy. At the time CC RIS (surprisingly!) did not provide much support for integration with other imaging systems e.g no HL7 , no DICOM MWL.

The 'Download' button for the 'free' version does not work. Do you require a minimum donation?

Thanks, the download works.
However the application doesn't work. It loops in the login page without getting further.
Are there any instructions how to install and start?
Thanks

it is option, but you can modify by yourself.
1. query database field
2. create hl7 file
3. send hl7 to dcm4chee
