I am NAS shopping and am getting a Synology DS1815+ and have noticed that as of Nov. 7th they (someone in this community maybe) has added Dcm4chee 2.18.0 with MariaDB to their "app store."  Does anyone know how well this will perform?  I emailed Synology's support and they indicated that they didn't have any performance data on this addition but are confident that it will work well being that business use their NAS for webhosting with thousands of hits per day with no issues.

Their NAS may serve for serving files but not as an application server.

It may work if you have a small clinic, but it's an Atom processor (yeah, quad core, but an atom) with only 2GB of ram. I suppose it won't be very fast. Also, knowing the Oracle license regarding Java distribution, it won't (or shouldn't) include Oracle Java, so it won't support image compression.

I'd rather buy or build a FreeNAS equipment and install a jail on it. Or even better, buy a cheap small dedicated server, like an HP microserver, and use the NAS... as a NAS for its storage.

Thanks

I am using NAS 713+ with 2Tb und DSM 5.1. The awesome package DCM4CHEE is a useful tool and it
works with my Dicomimages without any Problems. I think, if you want a higher performed system you have
only to buy a better hardware NAS. May be the synology support can give you an request due the performens.

Hi,

Would you please let me know how you set up DCM4CHEE and MariaDB on NAS for viewing DICOM images? I have a DS415+ that I'd like to use for DICOM images purposes. I added apps into the NAS but I am having problem with log in pages so I can not get into them even for some configurations.

Just loaded  it on  a DS415+ . Load  the  Maria DB and  Java  separately  BEFORE  you  load  dCM4CHE. Otherwise it  will not  work.

It  took  me  a  long  time  to  work it  out, but  their  default  AE  title is  DCM4CHEE and  port is 11112
Works  as a  promiscious  DICOM  pacs server.  Am  still  trying  to  figure  out  how  to  change  AE title  and  port nos etc...

To change AE title(s) etc use the jmx-console  (http://your-server-ip:8080/jmx-console).

I have to use port 9080 not 8080.
What is the url for the web interface? I cannot seem to access it using the usual myip:9080/dcm4chee-web/

Just figured it out :
Myip:9080/dcm4chee-web3/

I wished there was some better documentation for this!
