I would like to understand how dcm4chee-arc-light is intended to handle “repeat study” scenarios in an MWL-driven workflow.

Typical situation:

  • A modality performs a study against an MWL item and sends the images to the archive.

  • Later, it is found that this study was not diagnostically acceptable.

  • The modality then acquires a new study (with a new Study Instance UID) but still against the same MWL item.

My question:
How does dcm4chee-arc-light handle this repeat acquisition scenario in terms of MWL, PPS, and study linkage? Specifically, what is the expected/standard way that the archive maintains the association between the MWL item and multiple performed studies, while also accounting for rejection of the initial study?

Thanks in advance for clarifying the intended behavior.
