Hi,
I have a Synology 2 bay NAS which I am saving DICOM files to for backup and viewing. I have installed the DICOM view package from the Synology package centre (see: https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm/app_packages/PACS).

The package is dcm4che and JBoss.

I have installed both dcm4che and JBoss and they appear to be working: console is visible. I can seethe readingroom/desktop but not studies are found with a general search.

I have stored the DICOM files into a folder on the NAS called DICOM, and loaded several DICOM files/studies into the folder.

However I cannot view/see any of the case studies-- I think this is because I have not setup the file/folder location for dcm4che to look at. Would this be the cause? I am unsure of where to check/change the file locations.

Looking forward to some help!

Regards,

Brendan

You don't have to manually store the dicom files in some directory structure and then somehow point dcm4chee to it.
dcm4chee has it's own directory structure and keeps track of it, but it must be linked to a database (eg mariadb).
On synology dicom files are then stored starting at for example

/volume/@appstore/PACS/src/dcm4chee/server/default/archive/

If you're using the terminal, you can use the dcm2che2 toolkit to manually send some dicom files over to your pacs.
for example:

dcm4che2/bin/dcmsnd DCM4CHEE@ip:11112 IM-123-456.dcm

You can then find the case studies in your pacs, you can confirm by viewing them in the web interface that comes with dcm4chee or in your database.

Hi all,

I changed the ONLINE_STORAGE file system as per dcm4chee instruction says. I used the jmx-boss and then addRWfilesSystem(), the path points to a shared folder on the NAS.
But, I can ECHO and ping the DICOM server, from any device (localhost, ultrasound scanners, CT...) but I don't understand everything fails to send the images to Synology.

any Idea?

Hi Fabrizio,

I have the same problem. I want to set a shared folder on the NAS as the default image storage. Have you solved that? Can you give me an instruction how to do this?
