Urgent: NearLine Storage is full

Hi,

I am using dcm4chee-2.17.3 with Online & Nearline configured on SAN. Currently, we are in a danger zone that the NearLine storage is almost full.

We are not in a position to get the bigger storage immediately. It might take a month or so. I am wondering if it is a good idea to create space in the SAN by deleting a couple of year folder images and copy to an external hard drive, till we get bigger storage followed by restoring back the deleted folders from EHD.

Please let me know if there is any other better solution.

You can try softlink if your operating system is linux.

for Example

your NEARLINE storage has folder IMAGES

copy the IMAGES folder to your external drive and rename IMAGES to IMAGES_BKP and then create soft link in NEARLINE Storage

ln -s /ExtStorage/IMAGES NEARLINE/IMAGES 

if its work fine you can safely remove the IMAGES_BKP folder from NEARLINE Storage.

Note: Your PACS database would not be aware about your external drive you should handle it by yourself. Whenever your external drive remove you will not be able to view the images of NEARLINE Storage.
