hello, im using dcm4chee-2x, and im familiarized with it.

i see in the installation documentation, that dcm4chee 5x needs an ldap server...

Theres a way to install dcm4chee 5x without ldap server ?

Thanks !

Hi,

why don't you wan't to use LDAP? The problem is that dmc4chee 5x is saving his configuration in LDAP so it will not work if you don't use LDAP.
(Try the docker approach of installation (if you don't want to program some module or something like that) you will anyway not see a difference if it's used a database for saving the configuration or LDAP)

Hi,

i just want to make the process more simple as possible. But basically you are saying is, Dcm4chee really depends on LDAP on his core ? Theres no option to save his config on the database like the older dcm4chee 2x ?

Thank you for your attention !

That pretty much sums it up. LDAP is a requirement. Also the DICOM standard suggests the use of LDAP to store the configuration of not just the server but workstation too.

Why not using the dockerized version, which includes a pre-configured OpenLDAP server?

Why do you think that a dockerized application is significant slower than running it native? Actually, it's one advantage of Linux containers to avoid the overhead of VMs. s. https://domino.research.ibm.com/library/cyberdig.nsf/papers/0929052195DD819C85257D2300681E7B/$File/rc25482.pdf

Getting familiar with running Docker Containers in the Docker Engine is also rather a question of days, and not months. Dockerfiles of applications are quite similar to classic installation scripts.

Docker is great, and i sucessfully installed the  dockerized version ! But i really want to learn how the things works behind the docker container...
Also, docker is slower than native apps, and this is a issue to me because i have a project that consists in use cheap but reliable old hardware (like HP Microserver G7) to run dcm4chee in remote locations.
(This hardware is compact, inexpensive and can support up to 4 8tb hds plus one ssd for the system (with modified BIOS). And I have some servers like this running dcm4chee 2.x.)

Im Brazilian, (from Goias state) and im running dcm4chee 2.x (with an selfmaded User interface) in very remote and unassisted locations, like Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Amazonas states.

I made a complete installation script to dcm4chee 2.x version on CentOS7, and it works !
I want to make the same with dcm4chee 5.x. And will be a pleasure to me to share this installation script with dcm4chee community.
But Dcm4chee 5.x installation documentation is a little bit hard to understand than dcm4chee 2.x,  and im still stucked in the last lines of installation tutorial.
