Hello.
I have setup a dcm4chee server.  I am hoping to configure it to act as a PACs server / archive for images generated by an Agfa CR30x digital radiography machine running Afga's NX management software.  I am new to this, so please forgive any obvious questions.

The dcm4chee server is up and running.  The agfa NX software can recognize the archive (it can ping the IP fine (C-echo) at port 11112).  However, when I try to manually or automatically send images to the dcm4chee server, they never show up in the dcm4chee file-system listed on the web interface.  I am pretty sure this is a simple configuration issue, so would appreciate any pointers.

Do I have to tell dcm4chee to "listen" for images via any special settings?

On the Agfa software, I have to enter settings for "SOP class" (cr for presentation, dx for presentation, dx for processing etc.)  Which is correct?
I also have to select output type: 8 bit PVAL , 12bit PVAL and 15bit PVAL - again, which is good for dcm4chee?
On the afga sortware there is a storage commit with timeout of 24hrs.  Do I need to activate this setting?

If anyone could answer any of these questions, I would be very grateful.
P.S. Suresh - your "generic" PACs suggestion from last night was correct.  Worked fine.

did you look at your server.log file if AGFA is opening an association for C-STORE ?

Arnold, thank you for your reply.

I assume you are referring to the server log file stored at /var/lib/dcm4chee/server/default/log/server.log?  I checked this earlier, but unfortunately it only seems to store info since the server was last restarted.  Is there a more long-term log somewhere?  I will test the connection later, and hopefully get some data then.

Am I missing something with "C-store"?  Is there some sort of connector I have to put in place between the Agfa NX software and the dcm4chee server?

Cahir-

My company is starting to sell NX with the CR10x and we also sell the Clarity archive by iCRco which uses DCM4CHEE with their own java viewer -- we will certainly be testing sending from NX 8700 to Clarity.  I will let you know the settings/issues next week.

Have configured NX 8700 to DCM4CHEE (2008 version) -- no issues, images transfer fine.  Using the generic archive in NX and 12 bit lut.  Have you been successful since your post?  Have you taken down the firewall?  Have you configured the network IP away from 192.192.192.192 on the CR/NX?

Matthew,
Thanks for your response.  Have not got this up and running yet.
Just to review your (successful) settings:

Archive type on NX - generic

12 bit lut - what does this mean?

Not taken down firewall - is one installed by default? - I will check this at weekend

Network IP - did not touch the original IP as I understand this enables the NX computer to  communicate with the CR30-X.  Instead I installed a second network card to communicate with the NX  machine for file transfer.

Any thoughts?  Cheers

OK - I have had some success setting up dcm4chee as a PACs server, but am still having difficulty getting it to work with the Agfa NX radiography software.

I followed the installation guide for dcm4chee for mysql on the confluence site.  I tested the upload functionality of the server using the "dcmsnd" program downloaded from dcm4chee.  This worked ok.  I was able to import a sample dicom image to the server's default storage directory.  However, I have been left with two issues:

1.  Although the sample image appears in the default storage directory, it does not appear on the dcm4chee web interface as a file.  Anyone know why this is?

2.  I still cannot get any dicom files transferred from the Agfa NX viewer software.  I have attached server.log files as previously advised.  I followed previous advice to set the dicom archive as "generic" and "12" in the agfa software, and I can ping from the afga machine to the dcm4chee server fine.  Do I have to add the NX machine as an AE node on the dcm4chee server?

Any thoughts appreciated.  Thank you.

Cahir
