How is development organized?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to dcm4che, but me and my team are planning to implement dcm4che in an imaging center and contribute to development of the project. 

We noticed there are several repositories (SourceForge and Github), multiple versions (2.x, 3.x) and various tools, and some of the documentation seems outdated.

Can somebody point me in the right direction here?

What are the production versions, and what are the status of the development ones?

Where can the latest docs be found?

If we wanted to contribute to the project, how and where to do it?
