Batch Alter Dicom Tags

Hi,

We're using dcm4chee-arc-light and we would like to batch alter a number of dicom tags (specifically for certain patient names we'd like to set the PatientName to the current value of PatientID). I have used the dcm4che library tools to write a Java program which can traverse the file system and make the adjustment but then I guess because the record in the postgres database hasn't been updated when I query Dcm4chee I don't see the changes made to the dicom files?

I'm wondering what the best approach is for changing both the file and database record so that dcm4chee sees the change. This change will be applied to thousands of studies so we don't want to do it via UI and we're looking for a way to do this leaving the files in place if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
