How to measure dcm4chee response time

I am interested in measuring the response time of dcm4chee when requesting one, or a series of dicom images.

I have seen that dcm4chee stores the images very precise in a hierarchy of directories, and I'm wondering if this 

benefits retrieval.

So, how should I go about measuring this?

• Is there already a way to test the performance of dcm4chee?
  
• Are there any performance metrics available already?
  
• Should I measure by manually storing any number of images in the archive first, and then request one, or a series?
  
• If you have done this before, what did your measurement set up look like?
