The Discovery Center is on its way to you!

DCI’s Fall Regional Outreach is going on now!

During the months of October through December the Discovery Center of Idaho will be making its way across the state, bringing informal science education to your community.  Be the first in your area to book with us, and receive a two-hour Science Festival for free!  This includes a science presentation and a hands on activity for your school or organization.

October—Northern Idaho
November—Eastern Idaho
December—SW Idaho

Water is one of the most versatile substances on the planet, yet it never gets the recognition it deserves.  Learn about the properties of water; why some things sink while others float, why oil and water don’t mix and launch a water bottle rocket several stories into the air!

This hands on activity incorporates simple engineering with your child’s own creativity.  Begin by building a basic rocket and launching it across the room.  Then rebuild to see if you can make it fly higher and farther.

New at the Discovery Center...

We’re changing our field trip demonstrations.

The Discovery Center has improved the way we offer demonstrations during field trips.  We now offer a monthly featured show based on popularity, current exhibitions, and school curriculum trends.

Now you don’t have to worry about coordinating your curriculum with too many options, instead, take a look at our show schedule on the DCI Field Trips page and visit us anytime during the month of your preferred featured show.

Grants available for field trips!

The Target Field Trip Grants program, offered by the retail giant, will award 5,000 grants of $700 each to U.S. school teachers to use in the upcoming school year for a school field trip that connects their curriculum to out-of-school experiences If you have questions, please email targetfiel...@scholarshipamerica.org.

For more information, visit Target online.

The deadline to apply is September 30, 2010.
