When Waters Rise: A Community Conversation on Flooding

Hi DCHPN folks!
I wanted to invite you all to a special panel at the Newlin Grist Mill on May 2nd!
My fellow NGM trustee and Washington Post associate editor, Frances Stead Sellers, is moderating an expert panel on flooding. The Mill itself suffered a terrible flood in 2020, and we raised our 19th-century visitor center out of the flood plain as a result. We wanted to talk about this experience, and also the impact of flooding in our communities across the nation.

This is a piece Jan and I did a few years back as part of our "Songs of Stormwater Management" called "The Watershed's Wide" on the topic which may be of interest. The picture was taken after one of Darby's frequent floods.....Climate change is making things worse.
