Hi all,
If anyone is looking to own a unique historic building in the heart of Delco, Hinkson's Corner is for sale- 1 E Brookhaven Rd, Wallingford.

It is on the Nether Providence Historic Resource Survey (attached), which says that it was built in 1737, and added onto in 1799 (although Ashmead says something different, so I'd appreciate confirmation of dates). I've also attached the survey form for the Blacksmith shop across the street which is not part of the listing but is part of the history of the house.

I went to the open house on Friday (they have had several open houses) and spoke to the realtor, who said the owners lived in it for years and took great care of it and wants it to go to someone who loves old buildings.

The photos in the listing are great, but they don't show the basement, which has a cage (see attached photo). Based on similarly aged buildings (like Barnes Brinton House), I presume that this cage was used by the store/post office when it was there to keep the valuables safe. It looks like there used to be stairs down from the now living room (W side) that was the shop, which would have been used to access the basement.

I am just passing this information along in case anyone on the list is looking to own a historic house, or knows anyone who is. The house has great integrity (despite some replaced windows), and while it is on a busy corner, it feels secluded and the noise isn't that bad inside.
