Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Brothers,

We hope this message finds you well this holiday season. On the Hilltop, it's been a banner year for SigEp. Our chapter was the number one campus group in Relay for Life fundraising, we had 28 brothers earn a 3.8 GPA or higher in the spring, the Grand Chapter President paid DC Gamma a personal visit, and, last but not least, we took home our third Buc Cup at Conclave.

This holiday season, the active brothers give thanks to all those who came before us--to those who believed a social fraternity could succeed at Georgetown and worked to make it a reality. Today we stand on your shoulders as we continue to strive toward living balanced and virtuous lives.

You all have also been fantastic as alumni supporters. Thanks to the help of brothers Barnett, Bosco, Breen, Brewster, Chen, Curran, Goode, Hall, Leonhardt, Li, Manuccia, Stamos, Swicegood, Wray, and AVC President Balestrieri, we signed up enough brothers for Relay last month to win a contest which gets our logo printed on every single event t-shirt. The active brothers made a call, and you answered.

We hope you can be just as generous in this season of giving. Retreat is a highlight of each semester, but it's also one of our costliest events. If you're able, make a tax-deductible gift to the DC Gamma Retreat Fund to help finance our spring retreat. Whether it's $10 or $100 or $1,000, your generosity will make a difference. You'll find more info below on how to donate and how your gift will be used.

Just as importantly, we hope you'll stay in touch with us in the new year through our regularly-updated Facebook page and our revamped website, sigepgeorgetown.com. We have a lot of exciting things planned for the new year, and we want our alumni brothers to be a part of them.

Happy holidays, and all the best in the new year. We're damn proud to call you brothers.

HFF,

A Chance to Give Back: Make An Impact on Our Spring Retreat

Screen shot 2013-12-13 at 6.10.10 PM

Retreats are an integral part of the SigEp experience. Getting away from the day-to-day grind of Georgetown gives brothers the chance to relax, reflect, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.

With the rise of another social fraternity on campus, retreat has become a distinguishing factor for our chapter. Our commitment to maintaining a dry, off-campus retreat proves that our dedication to balance is serious, and that there's a lot more to what we do than parties.

What your gift helps us do:

Choose the best possible venue. More than 55 brothers joined us on our last retreat. With such large numbers, lodging and transportation can get expensive. Your gift helps us (i) secure an amazing venue that fits our needs, (ii) rent reliable vans to get there, and (iii) take part in events near the site like historical tours at Williamsburg or Gettysburg, the sites of two recent retreats.

Distinguish ourselves from SAE. Taking a weekend each semester to hold a dry, off-campus retreat is proof we mean it when we say we're more than just a drinking club. It also makes our brotherhood stronger.

Pay for brothers' meals on the trip. Brothers often have to pay out-of-pocket for meals on the way to and from retreat. Your gift can make that a thing of the past and help ease the financial burden for active brothers. With just a few hundred dollars, the traditional stop at Chick-fil-A could be on you, and we could also afford to do more than just Pop Tarts and granola bars for breakfast at the venue.

Hiking at Harpers Ferry, WV

The retreat experience is so rewarding that many brothers wish it could happen more than once a semester. In November of 2012, Christian Chung and Derek Embry did just that. They arranged for an overnight trip to Harpers Ferry, WV, which included hiking, relaxing, a SigEp circle and more, and all 25 brothers in attendance--including alums Jeff Wray and Taylor Barnett--came away refreshed, energized, closer to their brothers. We'd love to go an additional trip again this spring, and your gift helps ensure we can afford to do so without undercutting funding for programming events like paintball and formal and recruitment events like the Chipotle Challenge.

Your gift will go entirely to the Georgetown chapter, and all funds will be used for retreat-related expenses. Many employers make matching contributions to charitable organizations--click here to see if yours is one of them. If you have questions about our plans, feel free to contact Chapter President Matt Hamblin at mw...@georgetown.edu. The chapter thanks you for your generosity this holiday season, and we look forward to staying in touch with you in the coming year.
