Not only was all my email in my inbox deleted when forwarded to a unknown yahoo account but all my contacts email addresses were altered by an additional "er" before the @ symbol in each of 5000+ emails.

Any suggestions to avoid hacking?  A more complex password?  Alert gmail?  I was hacked once.  I recovered everything, but it was a close call.

I just made my password more complex and added a two-step verification that is triggered when using a different computer than I am now on.  If you have gmail, I highly recommend that you do this to avoid the hacking.
