Software Engineer - Java/Hadoop/MapReduce Developer

 

The McAfee Global Threat Intelligence team is looking for an experienced software engineer. Qualified and motivated individuals will have an opportunity to work on the design, architecture, and development of new and existing products in the information security space using cutting-edge cloud computing technologies. More specifically, you will develop scalable MapReduce based software to process high volume data in a timely fashion, including, but not limited to, data loading, pre and post-processing, data transformation, statistical analysis, and feature extraction.

 

Required skills:

 

- Proficient in Java.

- Hands-on experience on MapReduce techniques (Hadoop/HBase/etc) or related experience in large-scale data processing.

- Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capability to implement complex computing tasks with optimal algorithms and data structures.

- Capability as a self-starter to learn new cutting-edge techniques proactively and efficiently.

- Capability to quickly write MR code for prototyping and proof-of-concepts.

- Self-motivated, strong work ethic, good communication skills.

- Capability to work both independently and in a team environment.

- B.S. or above in Computer Science or a related field.

 

It is a plus if you have experience with:

 

- Linux

- SQL; relational databases like MySQL/Sybase/Oracle/etc.

- Indexing/searching techniques (Lucene/Katta/Nutch/Solr/etc).

- Data mining techniques (supervised classification, unsupervised clustering, raw data cleaning/pre-processing and feature extraction)

- Past experience in information or network security domain
