In our visual culture, more and more young people are leaving the
church as they enter adulthood. To reach them, we at Moonlight Media,
LLC believe it is essential to learn the tools of communicating
beauty, goodness, and truth in a visual medium. Along those lines, we
invite you to attend the second annual Moonlight Film Fest in northern
Virginia on June 11-12. We will be showing some of the best, most
impactful Christian independent film created across the nation in the
last year.

We especially invite your youth group to attend the showing of "To
Save a Life" on Saturday the 12th, at 1:00pm, at the Tally Ho Theatre
in Leesburg. This new independent film has gathered more than 150,000
fans on Facebook for its relevant message of how to encounter the
pressures of teen life through the lens of Christ. "I just watched the
movie with my youthgroup... I loved it... It meant a lot," writes one
young man.

We also encourage you to pass on this email to anyone in your
congregation who wants to glorify God through the arts, and especially
through filmmaking. We offer a free panel discussion on Friday evening
with several influential figures in the growing industry of Christian
independent film outside of the Hollywood conglomerate.

Also, if we are to succeed in film, we have to know how to write
stories that change lives. On Saturday morning, writers can attend a
story seminar presented by Act One from Hollywood, a Christian
organization that has sent skilled Christian screenwriters into
Hollywood to write films such as "The Blind Side" and "X-Men." This
seminar will cost $30, and attendees will be able to register on
www.moonlightfilmfest.com by the end of May.

The rest of Saturday afternoon and evening, we will enjoy some of the
best short films from across our nation. Filmmakers are welcome to
enter their films for screening, although the absolute cut-off date
for entry is June 3. Find the entry form on www.moonlightfilmfest.com.

Movie-making is an extremely competitive market, and filmmakers’
visions are often compromised by studios seeking the largest possible
returns on their investments. Independent media allows Christians to
step outside of this stifling studio atmosphere, to create films that
are more reflective of their Christian vision and artistry than would
be possible for many larger companies. They are freed to express the
values of truth, beauty, and goodness outside the constraints of a
market more dedicated to titillation than to artistry.

We hope that you will join us at the festival, eager for stories
reflective of God’s truth and the beauty of His world. It’s going to
be a wonderful time!

Sincerely,
Sarah Pride
