Subject: Summer Food Program

Hello Everyone,

Once again we’re gearing up for the Summer Food Program, which serves lunch in many of our Forest Grove parks to children who are experiencing food insecurity. We are looking for any volunteers who would be willing to help with this important program, and if you would like to participate, you can contact Brian Schimmel. I’ve included his information below: 

As the school year winds down, we are gearing up for the Summer Food Program, which picks up where schools and backpacks leave off, for many of the same kids.

Meals are served Monday - Friday, 12:00-12:30, by 3-4 volunteers (June 19 - August 18).  1 person picks up the food (11:30), and two others assist with setup and food distribution (1 person required to have a food handlers license).  They may also have a 1-2 persons leading an activity.  Online signups will be set up for individuals; this is where we can regularly track status of open slots.
