Some Swell Tomato Smash!
Well, I had a lot of fun watching all the activity last Saturday - I only wish we had been filming it all! I will send you the pictures I took for your entertainment especially. There was a lot of learning going on, that’s for sure. I can see in the future that we have the talent to do other cooking classes…so be thinking about what you could do, either as a solo act or working together. As I’ve heard: “talk among yourselves.”
On the original list that Diane and I dreamed up for the TWIGrant application, we mentioned cooking, gardening, food harvesting, gleaning and - of course - keeping the Food Pantry Garden producing. There are no doubt other workshops or classes or events we could propose for the coming months, too. I am still interested in planting some food-producing trees in October & November. A location isn’t determined yet, but please keep thinking about how we, as a Food Web, could move this idea forward. More fruit equals more surplus food to the pantries.
Rather than put together a separate, formal Debrief meeting for the TomSmash, I’m proposing we spend time during the next Potluck sharing our stories & observations from Sept 17, 2022. Who can take notes to keep for next, similar, events?
If you do NOT want us to publish pictures on our DCC Food Web or FB of you at the Tomato Smash event , please let us know right away. Thank you! =) Robin
