Hello Christa and Genevieve,

Thank you for the grant award for strengthening our Forest Grove School Gardens program.

Of course, I was in shock when I received your reply about why your TBFoundation Board sent $1500.00 instead of the original announcement awarding Dairy Creek Community Food Web a total of $7200.00. We did not realize that it was possible you would change the amount so drastically, or even understand that you’d change it at all. We are greatly disappointed, naturally, as we had already had developed a new budget including a plan to hire a part time School Garden Coordinator and also include more money for professional development opportunities, building new garden beds, and end up having a garden at every school in our district. If there is a way we can help to increase your award, please let us know.

Thank you again,
Robin -  for Dairy Creek Community Food Web

PS, Is it possible to send a copy of the grant application we originally sent to you? It disappeared twice while we worked on it, and now we have no copy at all.  Thank you.

We plan to announce these grants via local press releases and social media on July 6 We would love for you to share this news across your networks at that time as well. If posting on social media, please tag our community outreach social accounts on Instagram and Twitter: @blazercommunity. If local media has interest in connecting with your organization for more details, we will reach out when we hear from them.

To accurately announce these grants, please complete the following action steps for us by Tuesday, June 27 so we can cut your check and present accurate info on our website:
  1. We’ll be posting a one-sentence description of your grant to our website that we want to reflect your work. Please let us know if this is an accurate reflection of what this grant will support: Growing our food community through school gardens. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume it is accurate and ready to share.
  2. Please fill out, sign, scan, and send back to us the attached W-9. We plan to mail your check to 5499 NW Thatcher Rd. Forest Grove, OR 97116 by Friday, June 30 and will need a W-9 on file to do so.
  3. To appropriately showcase the geographic locations you serve, please provide a list of the cities and counties this grant will serve in Oregon and SW Washington. If you received general operating support that will support your organizations in all the cities/counties it serves, please provide that comprehensive list.
  4. As noted above, we will be connecting with local media in your market to share this news – please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this outreach.

It’s also important to note that we do not have any formal reporting requirements for this grant. We trust that you are doing great work and if you are interested in sending any updates, or your annual report, we will be happy to receive it, but we will not ask you to send us anything.

Thank you again for all the great work you do! Please do not hesitate to reach out with additional questions.
