Dear colleagues,

==== Apologies for cross-posting ====

We are pleased to invite you at the

"Special Session on Computational Audio Intelligence for Perception & Representation (CAIPeRe)"

organized at the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI, webpage here), 2026

Given the prevalence of computational audio intelligence in seemingly most (if not all) audio processing-related tasks, our special session aims to provide a concise and concentrated platform for presenting and discussing novel research results, on the combination of computational intelligence and audio processing.

We welcome high-quality original contributions on topics, from both academia and industry, including, but not limited to:
  • Self-Supervised Learning For Audio Representation
  • Intelligent Denoising, Dereverberation, And Source Separation
  • Spatial Audio Understanding And Neural Rendering
  • Cross-Modal And Multi-Sensor Fusion For Sound Perception
  • Generative And Diffusion-Based Models For Audio Transformation
  • Adaptive, Bio-Inspired, And Neuro-Computational Models Of Hearing
  • Applications In Machine Hearing, Ar/Vr Audio, And Auditory Scene Analysis
  • Context-Aware Immersive Speech Processing And Applications
  • Audio Augmented And Mixed Reality
  • Machine Hearing For 3D Audio Scene Reconstruction
  • Computational Hearing Aids And Assistive Listening Technologies
  • Audio-Based Environmental Monitoring And Smart Cities
  • Audio Intelligence For Autonomous Systems And Robotics
  • Ethical And Social Implications Of Synthetic Audio And Deepfake
  • Audio-Based Localization
  • Multimodal Audio-Visual Embeddings For Cross-Domain Perception

Important Dates
  • Paper Submission Deadline: January 31st, 2026
  • Notification of Acceptance: March 15th, 2026
  • Camera-Ready Paper Due: April 15th, 2026
  • Conference Dates: June 22nd-26th, 2026

Further information
  • You can keep track with CAIPeRe and get more info from its webpage (here).
  • All accepted submissions will be part of the main conference and its proceedings
We look forward to your contributions and to creating a vibrant and inspiring scientific forum that advances the frontier of audio intelligence.

Sincerely,

CAIPeRe Special Session Organizers

Thanks for this. We are also hosting a session on Neural Networks for Biodiversity at WCCI, which of course includes bioacoustics. See you (all) in Maastricht at WCCI!

Best wishes
Dan Stowell
