Hi all,
A Research Assistant position is open in my group at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).
ACOUSTIC IMAGING & EDGE DEPLOYMENT
We've built self-supervised models that reconstruct high-resolution acoustic spatial images from sparse microphone arrays in real time. The next step is getting them out of the lab: deploying onto constrained, wearable hardware and proving they hold up in real-world, noisy conditions. You'd own that step.
What you'd be doing: taking a working real-time system from research prototype to something that runs reliably on wearable hardware, in the kind of noisy, unpredictable conditions it'll actually face once deployed. That's the deliverable: a working system.
What we need:
Strong skills in one or two of the following three, with genuine willingness to grow into the other ones:
We're not looking for someone who already checks every box; we're looking for someone whose strongest two areas overlap with this list and who's ready to learn the third on the job.
The setup:
You'll work directly with our industry partner on this project (a multinational company operating at the forefront of AI and immersive technology, whose engineering teams you'd collaborate with directly on real deployment constraints). That direct line to their team is also one of the best networking opportunities this role offers.
Why this role:
If the work leads to a paper or demo, we'll fund your travel and registration to present it at the top conference in the field of your choice. We want this work seen, and we want your name on it.
