The next meeting of the Reston Macintosh Users Group (RMUG, formerly GRAMA)
will be on Wednesday, May 24 (that's NOT our usual
last-Wednesday-of-the-month, but the only one our speakers could attend.)
We start at 7:00 PM. Earthlink is sending two representatives, Elizabeth
Orth, a sales rep in the Maryland office; and Mike Lepley, a technical
support manager from the Harrisburg, PA office. Mike wrote the Mac Boot
Camp Training Module and comes very highly recommended.

All are welcome. RMUG hasn't yet defined a dues structure, we're just
collecting interested (and interesting) people for our membership. Bring
friends, bring relatives, haul your next door neighbor along if she or he
is interested in the world of online communication. Meetings are casual,
usually include a Q&A session to exchange Macintosh information and rumors,
and last about two hours.

Details: We meet at the Apple office in Reston, at 1892 Preston White
Drive, Reston. It's just off Sunrise Valley Drive, on the eastern side of
"town" -- away from Herndon and the USGS in the direction of Vienna/Oakton.
Fromthe Dulles Toll Road, exit on Hunter Mill Road toward Vienna/Oakton.
At the traffic light where Hunter Mill turns sharp left, turn sharp right
onto Sunrise Valley Drive. Go about two miles to the traffic light at
Preston White Drive on the right and South Lakes Drive on the left, and
turn right. 7:00 PM. Wednesday. See you.

Greetings again -- Michael Lepley, of EarthLink, has sent me the following
information about himself and about the presentation he'll be doing on
Wednesday evening (May 24th, not 31st), at 7:00 PM, at the Apple offices in
Reston. If you didn't see the notice I sent out yesterday but need driving
directions, e-mail me with where you'll be coming from.

I started out as a tech support representative for
MindSpring in September 98. I was promoted to a technical
support supervisor (in charge of team of 15 representatives)
in April of 99. In January I was again promoted to evening
shift manager of the Harrisburg technical support call
center and have been working in that capacity since then.
MindSpring finalized its merger with EarthLink in February.

Before the merger I was instrumental in evaluating all
aspects of Mac tech support and redesigning any areas of
weakness. This led to a completely redeveloped internal
training program for our technicians and making changes in
our procedures for helping members. This has continued post
merger and has resulted in greatly improved support for our
Mac users.

As for the presentation:

Members of your group can expect to see us install the most
recent version of the EarthLink Mac software and a
demonstration of its interface and associated software. We
will provide all members with a complimentary EarthLink CD
and another free gift. We will review our most common
billing plans and some of the exclusive benefits of being an
EarthLink customer. We should have time for a question and
answer period as well for those with connection/application/
OS problems.
