to DC Zinefest updates

Good Morning,

A metro-area schoolteacher reached out to us about a great opportunity for collaboration, and we wanted to pass it on to you.  Also, please let us know if you are working on any projects that you want DCZF to be involved in.  We'd be excited to collaborate:

Hey, y’all!

I’m a 7th grade language arts teacher in Arlington, VA. I’m creating a unit on zines (analyzing them, learning the history, comparing them with mainstream print mags, creating them, circulating them, etc.)

I’ve started to build my collection, and this is where I could use some help. I am looking for zines that would work with middle schoolers (13-14 years old). Ideally they would have text, collages, poems, comics, songs, lists, reviews, narratives, etc., and would have content from perspectives OTHER than the normative white/cis het experience that tends to dominate classrooms.

As a bonus, I’m also looking for folks to come in and talk with my class about zines. How/why you make them; how you use zines and writing to articulate multiple identities; etc.

I can be reached at peter.a...@apsva.us

 THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
