Hi all,
Well, it's going to be modest, but three of us are meeting for 6mm Moderns. Brits and Soviets with FFT. I don't know how much we can get in three-four hours, but we'll see. The main idea is to meet, play and get to know each other. If you happen to be in the area of 4901 V Street NW today between 1 and 4PM,. come on down. We'll be meeting again March 20th at the same location, but we'll then be moving to a location in Falls Church:

  Victory Comics
  586 S.Washington Street

It's about 1.5-2mi from the East Falls Church Metro. I've already spoken to the proprietor of the location and he's amenable to a date in April either on the 17th or the 24th. Lemme know which date is better for everybody. I'll be around till noon here, and then after that, I'll get your email tomorrow, as it's Purim tonight.

Everyone there seemed to have a good time, I was very late but managed to play most of the game.  As for the game it was a 6mm BAOR vs. Warsaw Pact with a few companies a side (please correct me if I'm wrong, Jason).  It was a fun, quick introductory game, made all the better by Jason's helpful GMing and loads of cool models.  It was a quick win for the British, I being happy as their co-commander, but next time with some minor adjustments to the scenario we will definately have a more competative game.  I had a great time and eagerly await the next time we meet (BTW I may have the next 2 weekends free, it looks like the 6th has opened up and I won't be at Coldwars so if anyone wants a game we might be able to have one).
Thanks
PS: @Curt I far as I know no one took any pics but I'll see if a writeup is doable.

Ok,
It was a British Armor Battalion with elements of another one, plus some scratch Brit and German forces against a Soviet Regiment of T-64 and BTR-70, I had a shot up Polish Regiment backing them up (T-72 and BMP-1). Well, I led off with the T-64s on the left, and they opened up at long range. Forced a platoon to run. I returned fire with AT-8 (Only thing that would scratch the paint on a Challenger), didn't even manage that...then the slaughter really began. In the next turn, the T-64 Battalion evaporated under 120mm fire. So, I brought in the Polish T-72s....they didn't even last that long. So, I tried to get the Infantry forward under cover of the hills...no dice, the Brits hung back, and shelled the Soviet infantry into submission. That battalion broke, then the regiment failed it's quality check, at that point, the Polish battalion wasn't going to go forward alone, so it was game over. Only Brit casualties was some Challengers forced off with 120mm Mortar fire. My one airstrike bombed the wrong target.

There was some thought about modifying the scenario, reducing the brits, which I think would have worked, or starting them further back, also a good suggestion, both from Jage, incidentally. I think I probably also should have had more Soviets. Probably two full regiments, or perhaps three. FFT eats battalions, especially Soviet ones like popcorn. Then again, that's not totally unrealistic.

Next month, we're taking suggestions for a game, I am working on the Slammers and should have them done in time, including the infantry. I am also going to invite a part time member, old friend of mine by the name of Chris Hyland. He's a good bloke and though he's in school right now, once the summer rolls around, his time will free up more.

I forgot the camera, Do'h. Next time, I shall not.

Curt, hope to see you next month. Jage, room's in your name this time so you'll have to get there first.

Guys, sounds great, especially for a first go. I have FFoT (free, 2d ed.) here, but I've never played it. I know Ty was supposed to publish a set for sale, but I stopped following the Yahoo group a year or so back. FFoT is also played by the NOVAG group in Chantilly, I believe. I'll definitely try to make the next game.
