Hey, everyone. I want to let you know that we've taken measures to prevent spam messages like the one I'm citing from happening again.

I initially hesitated from following up on it to minimize the traffic, but I'm realizing that there's some useful info to share, while also taking the opportunity to again mention that you can help out with managing the list.

The spammer took the step of requesting and getting a subscription to the list before posting. Their request was pretty generic, so it may have seemed a little fishy, but it's hard to tell and I authorized the subscription, not expecting that amount of effort.

It turns out that there's a simple change to prevent this from happening in the future. I've configured the list so new subscriptions default to moderated status. That should prevent any more spam from getting through.

I hope that nobody was taken in by the spam. I expect that it's a scam rather than just advertising.

Let me know if you're interested in helping maintain this list or other dc-ci stuff! It should be pretty simple and could lead to more of us being more involved.

Hello Everyone!

We’re scheduling a dryer vent cleaning and if anyone else is interested, we can get a group discount. Normally, this service costs $350, but if more people sign up, the price drops to $150 per home! Not cleaning your dryer vent increases the risk of fire in your home because lint and dust build up inside the vents, which can become a serious fire hazard.
We’ve used this service before, and they do an excellent job. (he does duct and chimney cleaning if you need that as well)

If you’re interested, please PM me your contact info and address, and I’ll arrange a convenient time. Or feel free to text Dan at 240-202-8145
