Foreign Policy Discussion with Roy Gutman:  Sep 13, 7pm
This September 13 at 7pm, we are pleased to host Roy Gutman, the President of the Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs. Roy recently spent time travelling in Syria, and he will be giving a talk about his experiences there. Some of this was summarized in an article he wrote for foreign affairs, but with us he'll be getting into the nitty gritty details that didn't make it to print.
Roy is a reporter with decades of experience whos honors include the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting, the George Polk Award for foreign reporting, the Selden Ring Award for investigative reporting, and a special Human Rights in Media Award from the International League for Human Rights. While a diplomatic correspondent at Newsweek, he shared the Edgar Allan Poe award of the White House correspondents association.
You can read his most recent article here: https://foreignpolicy.com/2025/07/17/syria-damascus-idlib-politics-government-economy/
