Sometimes i think that why, we are studying this course??People before
us have given us up to the mark and best databases, so why shudnt we
utilize them and move ahead in the race of techonology?( as we are
literate enough to utilize databases for our use)
I may be wrong but i think that its like wasting time on buying and
searching for the best register(copy) to write on ,instead of just
saving time and start writing.
I want my thoughts to be crystal clear before starting the course so i
thought that i should ask this question...

Dear Furqan,

In this fast changing and technology depend world their are two types
of people (from technology and business point of view). One are those
who are technology users and other are technology inventors. As
professionals choice is ours what we want to be, just consumers of new
technologies or the inventors and creators of new technologies. I
agree to your point that their are already hundred of solution
available in ICT then it seems like their is no point in just re-
inventing the wheel again.

But some time to understand the better use of a technology one has to
re-invent few things, this basically is essential to understand the
art and science of invention. As communication engineers in your life
many times you will have first hand encounter with DB driven
applications. And if you are not better prepared now then at that time
you will face your self totally depend upon some developer or DBA who
can give you any solution and you will have no choice but to accept
his/her words.

This DBMS course will not only help my students in designing Database
schemas in better way but will also help them in understanding
different piratical aspects of Software engineering and programming.

And now two quotation that I will like to share with you
"If we value the pursuit of knowledge, we must be free to follow
wherever that search may lead us. The free mind is not a barking dog,
to be tethered on a ten-foot chain." by Adlai E. Stevenson Jr. (1900
- 1965), speech at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, October 8,
1952

and my all time favorite quote

"I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to
have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting
myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell
than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered
before me." by Sir Isaac Newton.

So lets not chain/restrict our self for few good things/ideas/domains
that we think are best for us lets explore the shores and depths of
sea of knowledge and see what all it has for use to learn and
discover.

Join me in my pursuit of knowledge with open heart & mind and with
desire to do some thing big for our nation.

Sir,
thankyou very much for such a great reply and especially for sharing those two quotations.
Those muddled thoughts prevailing in my mind are now replaced by new refreshing ones stuffed with an eager to study dbms, and this is definetly a good start, and that has become possible only because of you. This is the first time that any teacher has permitted us to share our thoughts with complete freedom through net,so all credit goes to you..thanks again..
