Here are the Meeting Minutes:

Attendees: Vijay, Jenney & Frank [Over Phone]
Missed: Dick & Kenny

1. Frank was very busy all means doing house hold work fixing something crucial using his experience and skills, in job hunt he is proceeding to next level before accepting the offer he needs to complete a formal training. Fionna who got a job as an HR offered/ extended him an opening.

2. Jenney shared his job leads, about 3 hour long interview with half a dozen of people tomorrow "BEST OF LUCK". She also shared about a business idea which is cropping up now brainstorming in a weekly meeting among the team. Jenny said that she is going to help Vijay in giving referral from her Indian counter parts.

3. Vijay stated and shared his job search experience about attending the job fair last week and few responses he got over the LinkedIn.

4. LinkedIn: I sent out invitation to Jenny and need to get connected with Kenny.
      Action Item: Initiate connection to other team members, If you guys are not still connected with each other.

5. We had a general discussion about he rest of the team members and curious to know about them, what they are doing last two weeks. Thanks for the update which we received from Kenny today.

• Prepare yourself for the interview with questions like 

1. Tell about yourself
2. Salary Expectation

4. Why should not hire you
5. What you can do for us

Note: ** Be positive and show only positive side in the interview until you are forced or literally asked for any specifics.

1. Vijay started by talking about his job search experience. He said for him it was a little slow in the last 10 days. Jenney and Frank commented it might be b/c of the July4th holiday. People were out of town.

2. Jenney shared his job leads. Few are on table, but nothing hot at the moment.

3. Frank had a job lead from one of his friend's friend. He had a face-to-face (sort of speaking) interview. (Got fingers printed, etc.). Both Vijay and Jenney thought Frank would have 90% job offer by next week.

4. LinkedIn: we thought it would be good if we were/are all connected thru LinkedIn.
      Action Item: Initiate connection to other team members.

5. Jenney mentioned about the DimDim (same service as Webex, except it is free.) Jenney will set up an online-mtg for next mtg, Wed 7/14.
      (Will send out separate email about the mtg details)

I tried to connect to VJ with LinkedIn as suggested from a previous meeting of our group, but found two lists under Vijay Kuralla. Please let me know which one to use (CSC or PLM?).

 

Also, I have similar problem in selection with Frank Castro's link. Please help.

If I remember correctly, we dialed into our conference call at approximately 1215 hours using my cell phone and found that Ron Coll was on the call, so as a new member you asked him to introduce himself and let us know what he has been doing since his lay off from Lockheed Martin.  I mentioned that Ron was a key member of my national UNIX Compliance team and was laid off prior to me on March 26^th.  Ron said that since being laid off he attended both the DBM sessions, meeting with Katherine Yeagal and some of the EDD Workshops and MS Word and MS Excel classes.  Ron also mentioned that he found very few jobs in his niche of PERL programming, which you agreed was a niche market with few jobs and few individuals, so he might be better off in the long run.  Ron said that since he has had no real luck so far, he slowed down on knocking on the doors of employers and you offered him the name of a friend that might be able to help Ron locate a PERL programming job with I think you said CISCO Systems.  We concluded our conference call with Ron at approximately 1240 hours and said I had to run to a 1300 workshop at the Sunnyvale EDD office, but ended up leaving DBM at around 1300 hours putting me at the Sunnyvale EDD classroom at 1330 hours, so I missed the class and will have to reschedule for a future date.

 

Let me know if I captured the essence of our meeting and add in anything, that I might have missed.
