Wanted to know if you have any ideas for my mini-project in ADBMS and
Web Engineering. Well, it's a simple thing, consisting of 4-5 forms
(which I'll be making in php) and the backend database in sql or
mysql. But I don't want to do those hotel, library, airline management
things.. Do you guess have anything different in ur minds?

P.S.: Consider the fact that I in Third Year. :D

Thanks!
Regards!

well there r many things u can do. one that i can think of right now is CHAT BOX. u can either make it plain and simple as having login ids and a chat interface or if u want to make it more challenging u may create interface for viewing, searching other users.

for logging into to ur system, u can also use the y drive login of students as their user ids.

u will have to use AJAX or something on a similar lines.

u can also create a BLOG as project which is pretty much feasible and simpler than CHAT BOX.

"WE" projects can be interesting only if its done by individuals on their own and not picked from some site.

also understand that hotel, library, airline management r not bad projects for TE level
it depends on u as to how interesting these projects turnout.

PLEASE NOTE the suggestions made by me r 4 TE and not recommended as BE projects.

I do agree with christy
that all those sampled projects are not bad
what you must have noticed is people make it for it's sake
but it's all upto you how you do it ,it is already invented what is
required is innovtion!.
Chat box and blogger both are good ideas but still u have been to
facebook right so in it there is his status thingie.

you could real try it out if you want to do something special also it
is on the lines of chat box.
You could also try something like a moodle though it's really tougher
than status messages but you could do it for the heck of it !.
if you succed you could receive lot of good comments but don't expect
something more than that since it's free.

Want an idea??  Then just look around. Just try solving a real world problem using technology and you have a good project at hand.

A classic problem that i faced in college was that i entered college in the morning just to know that today is the deadline for a few assignments and having a test in the 2nd lecture. I just wished that there was SOMEONE who would have sent me an email/SMS reminder of this yesterday. Secondly even if i knew there is an assignment to be submitted tomorrow i do not know the questions when i am at home how do i do it . I wish it was mailed   to me by SOMEONE.

The SOMEONE over here could be a web application.

P.S. The case mentioned above is not an idea for your mini-project. But just an example of how you can think of an idea.

Good to see you taking the miniproject seriously! A lot of people dont really bother about it.
For my mini project I created a browser based text mmorpg. At the time me and some of my friends were heavily into this stupid, daft addictive game called darkthrone. The game would give you resources and you had to distribute them among income, offence, defence and spying.
Anyway i created it using ASP and MySql and hosted it on my home computer using a borrowed DNS. A few friends from college and a few friends from my alliance in the darkthrone game joined in too. It was quite fun for everyone including myself!
The game was persistent and every half an hour it would update the database, things like that.
Just an idea that you CAN fool around with the project while enjoying yourself.
