When I click on the new button on the Sales Order (this may also occur with the Invoice or PO), I get a message “you have reached the maximum number of Sales Orders for today”.

There is a setting in Company Setup on the System Numbering tab that
allows you to set the maximum number of characters for the Sales/
Invoices and Purchase Orders. You will need to set this to a higher
number.
