Marko,

today my data comparison between 2 schemas failed to complete - DB Solo displayed the "GC overhead limit exceeded" error.

Note : this is the first time I have seen this error with DBSolo (4 or 5).  I am using the latest "preview" DBSolo version 5, with no jre - on Ubuntu 14.04 64 with with Oracle JDK 1.8_66 as runtime. The max heap size was set to 3gb in the dbsolo script prior to the comparison started. Watched the heap size growing in jvisualvm during the comparison (in memory comparison not using file system).  The issue does not happen  if I exclude 1 table which has 2.4 million records.

This could be a coding issue.

reporting for your review.

Try allocating more heap to DB Solo, the error just indicates you're running out of memory.

Marko,

I ended up increasing the heap size max limit to 4GB. That way, it completed the full data comparison without any issue.

However, the amount of data did not change - I was able to do this comparison with 2GB of max heap size in DBSolo version 4.X ,  now about the same amount of data, the max heap size is 4GB with DBSolo 5 (latest preview) on Ubuntu 64bit using Oracle JDK 1.8_66

thank you
Z.

There should be no change that would require more memory in DB Solo 5. If you're using a different JDK now, it might be related to that.
