Update for Jan. 30th 4pm Day Watch
Day Watch
The outreach we have planned for this Saturday is still on! The
weather report continues to change but our plan is to serve
regardless. I need some volunteers with Trucks to haul tents so that
the tables will be covered. We are going to be allowed to stand under
the parking deck on the bottom floor so our guest will be dry. If you
have a truck and are able to transport some tents, please let me know
at d...@fishersweets.com. My only reach number at present is
336-337-7005, you may also call me.
If we have rain, we will still serve. If we have snow, we will still
serve. Ice is iffy. I do not want anyone to drive to volunteer if you
feel uneasy or not safe in bad weather. I will make a post Saturday
morning after we see what we are dealing with exactly.
We are doing the volunteering differently this time. I will have
people outside the library wearing the BIG party hats. They will have
a clipboard to sign you up to go to work somewhere whenever you
arrive. We will start by serving hot chocolate and fill up the other
stations from there. Because Urban Ministry has given us blankets and
the weather is demanding of them, we will give out blankets and some
small items we have to help our friends stay warm. We were not going
to give out coats or blankets but it looks like it is something we
must do. We will serve a meal, give out a snack bag, hygiene kit, and
whatever we have of the winter items.
Depending on the weather, our plan is to set up between 3:30m-4pm. As
soon as we are set up, we will begin to serve the meal. Hot Chocolate
will be available the whole time. If you have any questions or
concerns, let me know. I posted signs and visited the block and
library to let our friends know that we are coming, period.

| Hey Deb, we will end up with about 72 pieces of cake...will that be enough or do I need to make another big pan???? I have some extra puddings, fruitsnacks, candies...I can bring them along just in case....Also wnated to check and make sure you have people to get the tents...Will they fit in my highlander????
