The DBA is still looking for individuals interested in going to the 2010 USA Broomball National Championships in Blaine, MN.  Below is the orignal note sent on January 15, 2010:

Dayton Broomball Association would like to announce our intentions of sending a team or teams to the 2010  USA Broomball National Championships in Blaine, MN.  This is a great opportunity to see and play with some of the most skilled broomball players in the United States.  The cost of the tournament is $380.00 per team.  There are four Men’s Only Divisions, two Co-Rec Divisions and one Collegiate Men’s Division.  Up to 64 teams may be hosted for this event.  Teams have been turned away in previous years due to high interest.  All games will take place at Schwan’s Super Rink.  This is the largest facility of its kind in the world containing eight sheets of ice under one roof, home to the US  Women’s Olympic team and just 25 miles north of Minneapolis/Saint Paul.

The tournament will be held the weekend of March 26-28.  The first games will take place at 8:00 AM Friday, March 26, and therefore teams must be at the rink by that time.  That means our DBA team may have to leave as early as Thursday in order to arrive in time to play on Friday.  And depending on how long we move up in the tournament, we could play through Sunday.  So potentially we may not return to Dayton until Monday.  We realize this is a commitment of time which will require many to schedule vacations, sitters and other special arrangements.

The DBA would like to not only send players but additionally invite anyone along with us that would simply like to come watch the games.  Teams can roster up to 17 players.  And we could certainly use all the fan support possible.  The number of respondents, both potential players and spectators, will impact the overall per person cost.  As a very rough estimate, the maximum cost to someone interested in playing should be under $200.00.  That estimate includes the cost of travel, accommodations and the tournament.  That does not cover the cost of food and/or other items.

If you’re interested in playing or coming along as a spectator, please complete the following form:  2010 USA Broomball National Championships Interest Form.  As the event has filled-up in the past, we would like to get commitments from individuals as quickly and early as possible.  Therefore, the deadline for submission is January 31, 2010.  Once we have an idea of interest, we’ll arrange a meeting with interested parties to discuss.
