Youcan stream movies from websites like Mega.nz, Putlocker, 123movies, WeTransfer or Google Drive. This is illegal, but you will not get caught. Catching people who use those illegal streaming websites is very difficult. Movie studios and copyright lawyers focus on easier targets.

The BitTorrent protocol splits a file into smaller chunks. When you torrent a movie, you download these chunks until you have the whole file on your computer. You also share the chunks you already have with other downloaders. This means that when you torrent a movie, you also share it with others.

Private torrent trackers can also increase your privacy. Your IP address will only be visible to people who can use the tracker. You can still be caught if the copyright lawyer gets access to the tracker.

However, VPNs are not risk-free. If your VPN connection drops, your torrent client might continue downloading copyrighted materials without it, exposing your IP address to the world. This is why you should set up a VPN killswitch that cuts the internet connection if you are not connected to your VPN. I use this docker-based killswitch since a few years.

When choosing a VPN, you must look for a fast provider that allows torrenting and does not log IP addresses. Avoid free VPN services, as they usually sacrifice safety, privacy or performance. I use Private Internet Access since 2016. I never had any problems.

However, seedboxes often require you to use private torrent trackers, which have stricter membership requirements. Private trackers are usually invite-only, and require its users to maintain a high seeding ratio.

This article was not written to promote sharing copyrighted material without permission, but to inform its readers about the current laws and the methods used by German pirates. All About Berlin does not condone piracy. Be safe and responsible.

This whole debate only concerns streaming via caching. If you use another programme to watch movies online, like DivX, then this is more dangerous as it downloads a temporary copy of the movie to your hard drive and you will get caught. Sooner rather than later. Bit torrents are also another popular way to get caught.

If the whole area of illegal downloads is too tiresome to stress about, here is a complete list and comparison of legal streaming sites in Germany from vetalio. And if you want to stream UK tv for free and watch pay as you go movies, have a look at Youk.tv and Filmon.com.

Downloading (and especially uploading) any material that can somehow be classified as copyrighted over an open internet connection is asking for trouble. If you want to protect your online privacy then you should definitely consider using a virtual private network (VPN) and making sure your computer is properly configured so that all of your internet traffic becomes secured, regardless of its content.

Its not that you are unable, but that streaming is a legal grey zone that the authorities are trying to shut down. Many people stream online though, but downloading will almost certainly land you with a big fine.

I have a question about and app called showbox. You have a choice to either download or stream, I always choose stream and it gives the option of streaming from torrents or a sever. Could I be possible fined for streaming using the sever option?

what if some friends of me upload the copyrighted file from another arabic country to google drive personal account, and they gave me the account, and i opened it here in Germany as if it is my account, and download the file??

also if someone send me the illegal files through facebook or my personal email???

Hi there, copyrighted material is illegal if shared irrespective of how you do it. Your question is really about whether you will get caught or not, and I am really not in a position to say. It is unlikely to say what happens when you send something through gmail or Facebook messenger but I guess they sent you a link, and not a file. Which means you are following a link to download from a server in which case you risk getting caught.

According to the European Court of Justice, the streaming of pirated (illegally copied) movies, series or sports is illegal. Until this year, viewing an illegal stream was a grey zone which was unenforceable and fines were only issued to those caught downloading or uploading illegal files. However, now, if the person viewing the stream knows or should have known that the site was illegal. The definition of how you should know is a little fuzzy, but essentially if you are searching for the latest content (movie/series/live sports) online and you find it streamed for free, then it is probably illegal. But come on, honestly, if you are reading this then you know what you have been doing is illegal ;-).

Now before you get overly-worried, it is still early days. As the article from Focus points out, watching these illegal streams is becoming dangerous and users need to watch out. But to date there has been no mass sending of warning letters and fines. Yet.

And you probably know if you have gone to a website that is streaming illegal content. For example the site you keep mentioning. I have never used it but it is pretty obvious that it is offering pirated content

I had very bad experience with torrent and i had to pay toooooo much money.

MEDIA RULES made us fool. Like U -torrent or Bt torrent..

There are many german compinies will find only the forignners, who watched or downloaded movies etc from these kind of website.. I really dont understand instead of finding us and sending the Straffe, they should work on these kind of websites and block them .. simple..

last year when I came here I started browsing and reading about this stuff and no where did I find that streaming was illegal, even my landlord said it was okay and that I only needed to stay away from downloading stuff.

Learn how to adjust your downloads settings to get Netflix to automatically manage it for you with its Smart Downloads features, and how to manage downloads for countries with restricted licenses. For more, learn about Netflix's hidden menu or see CNET's reviews of all the streaming services

If you're familiar with using Netflix on your mobile device, you've probably noticed the dark "Download" button that sits right below "Play." Clicking that button starts a download of a local version of the movie or TV show you want.

You can download Netflix movies and TV shows on iPhone, iPad, Android and Amazon Fire devices, as well as computers with Windows 10 or 11 and some Chromebooks and Chromeboxes. Netflix downloads are set by default to only use Wi-Fi, though you can change that in your app settings.

TV shows can be downloaded individually by clicking the download icon next to each episode. On Android devices, you can download an entire season of a show by tapping the separate Download Season button next to the My List, Rate and Share links near the top of a movie or show listing.

Netflix allows you to keep a maximum of 100 downloads on as many devices as are included in your subscription plan. Each of the downloads has a different expiration date based on its content license -- some expire as early as 48 hours after you first start watching. Downloads can be renewed, but some have a limit on how many times per year. If a movie or show leaves the Netflix service, all downloads for it immediately expire.

You can delete individual movies and shows by unselecting the check box next to each title. You can remove all of your downloads by going into your App Settings and clicking "Delete all downloads" under Downloads.

A "Downloads" tab (called "My Downloads" on Windows) that sits at the bottom of the Netflix app shows you which downloads are in your library and lets you play them. It also lets you customize your download settings, such as Smart Downloads.

When turned on, Download Next Episode will automatically delete TV show episodes once you've watched them and then download the next episode in the season. It's a no-brainer for anyone who downloads TV shows, which is probably why the feature is turned on by default in Netflix apps.

Downloads for You expands the automatic downloading and deleting options for Netflix that are used in Download Next Episode. The feature is available in the iPhone, iPad and Android versions of the Netflix app, as well as some Chromebooks and Chromeboxes.

After Downloads for You is turned on, Netflix uses your viewing habits and preferences to download movies and TV shows that the service thinks you will like. Once you watch them, they're automatically deleted.

If you don't want to watch a downloaded title, you can delete it the same way you would delete downloads that you initiated manually. You can also click the icon of a square surrounded by a broken circle to cancel downloads in progress. Downloads for You only works over Wi-Fi.

Turning that feature on will then open up options for limiting how much data Netflix will automatically download for each user profile, anywhere from 0.5GB to 9.5GB. (Netflix notes that one hour of video at normal quality is about 0.25GB.)

Whether a movie or TV show can be downloaded on Netflix depends on its content license, and licenses vary from title to title. Netflix says that it tries to make as many titles available for download as possible, and when a movie or show is not downloadable it's usually because of three reasons:

In my informal survey, the titles I found mostly likely to be excluded from downloading are popular TV shows from cable or broadcast networks. "Grey's Anatomy," "Gilmore Girls" and "The Walking Dead" are three shows you can stream on Netflix, but not download.

Geographical restrictions that limit streaming titles in certain countries also apply to downloaded movies and TV shows. If you're traveling in a country where Netflix is not showing the title you downloaded, you won't be able to watch it, even though you already downloaded it in your home country.
