I have a Logitech mouse connective via Bluetooth, but over the weekend the mouse lost connection with the computer. At first I thought it was the battery, but investigating the computer, I noticed the Bluetooth icon and drivers disappeared.
As if my computer could no longer see its own Bluetooth. Constant uninstalling and reinstalling before I installed the OEM Bluetooth driver instead of the actual intel driver. Mouse reconnected and it was fine.
Then today, my mouse died again. I check the computer and again, computer can't find it's own Bluetooth. Restarted the computer and it recognizes it again.
My Bluetooth is up to date at Version: 22.220.1.1, and my Asus Bluetooth is the Realtek Bluetooth Driver Version V1.8.1037.3001. Both up to date as I'm downloading it straight from their website.
If it comes an issue again, I'll follow all your steps.
For the 'Try a clean install' in Step 2, what is the best way of uninstalling the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the clean install to work?
Or going straight to the link without uninstalling anything going to work either way?
I've always been going into Device Manager and seeing the Bluetooth is missing.
So I have to go into VIEW > SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES and then the Bluetooth appears, and then I uninstall the Bluetooth driver before re-starting it. Sometimes a restart fixes it, sometimes a full shut-down fixes it, sometimes it doesn't.
I'll try your step 1-4 for the Intel Wireless Adapter and then a restart and hopefully that fixes it.
However, I did notice that the thing that might be causing it is everytime my Bluetooth is missing, under Device Manager > USB Controllers, is a driver labeled "Unknown USB device descriptor request failed".
If the Bluetooth IS working, that Unknown isn't there. The second my bluetooth disappears, "Unknown USB device descriptor request failed" suddenly appears.
Have a better idea what this issue is and how to fix it?
Thanks for your response. In this case, if you have performed the clean install of the drivers, updated your BIOS, and updates your operating system (including the optional updates), I recommend you to get in contact with Asus to confirm if there is any malfunction with the laptop.

Suddenly out of the blue my Bluetooth stops working and disappears from the action center and device manager. I can still see bluetooth whenever I show hidden devices in device manager but I can't do anything about it. Updating driver, restarting PC does not help at all. This is really frustrating and I need it fixed asap. I'm using Windows 10.
What the problem is: the leads from the motherboard to the Bluetooth card keep falling off, even without the laptop being moved. It would be an easy fix if they would actually work on it instead of just replacing the card or reattaching the leads. This must be a design flaw as they have put a piece of plastic over the leads to hold them in place but it isn't working.
Same problem. Was literally using my mouse with my laptop sitting still on my desk when it stopped working. Have updated the driver, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, restarted, cussed at the computer, cussed at Michael Dell, nothing works. Bluetooth just up and leaving has been an issue with this laptop since the beginning, but the above-mentioned solutions usually fixed it.
I finally paid the $99 to have a technician call me and try to fix this issue remotely. He was successful. The fix lasted for about 2 hours. If they can't fix their own machines who can. Such a piece of garbage.
I totally agree. I'm having the same bluetooth issues; worked one day, not the next. Also, my network adapter driver all of a sudden disappeared and I had to purchase a network USB to connect to the internet. No one at Dell seems to be of much assistance.
My uninformed guess as to what happened was static electricity funked up the Bluetooth device. I had been shocked by it moments before and the fact that unplugging it worked, but not just shutting it down, leads me to believe it had something to do with grounding it. Or something. I am not a computer engineer!
- It's possible to make the bluetooth briefly reappear: I uninstall the Unknown USB Device from device manager, restart the computer, go into BIOS, reload factory defaults, save and exit. When it starts up, Device Manager and Action Center will both show bluetooth. But then the bluetooth will disappear within a minute, and the Unknown USB Device will reappear.
1. Download and save latest set of drivers and software for your adapter:
1. Wireless: WiFi_20.10.2_PROSet64_Win10.exe
2. Bluetooth: BT_20.0.0_64_Win10.exe
2. Under Programs and Features in the Control Panel, uninstall any instance of the "Intel PROSet/Wireless Software" and "Intel Wireless Bluetooth." When prompted, choose to "discard settings."
3. Uninstall your device drivers from Device Manager:
1. Network Adapters > Right click on your Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless and uninstall it. Make sure to select the option to "Delete the driver software for this device."
2. Bluetooth > Right click on your Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) and uninstall it. Make sure to select the option to "Delete the driver software for this device" if allowed.
4. Clear out your temporary files: Press the Windows* Key + R to open the run box. Type Cleanmgr.exe and press OK. Here you will need to make sure Temporary Files are checked, you may uncheck everything else then press OK.
5. Install the Intel Wireless and Bluetooth packages that you downloaded back in step one.
6. Reboot your system.
Brilliant, thanks! After rolling back the driver and also trying a driver update (Windowes said it was the latests version, it wasn't) it worked intermittently and the bluetooth icon etc. disappeared again after a restart. Your method worked perfectly and immediately without a reboot!
The switch for Bluetooth disappeared. I uninstalled it in the device manager and scanned for hardware changes, but it didn't reinstall. I manually reinstalled the drivers from intel's website and it still won't show up. Under services there are three Bluetooth related items all running on automatic. When I run the Bluetooth trouble shooter it says my computer doesn't have Bluetooth. My computer says everything is up to date and so are the drivers.
Thanks, in your case the restore may be what solved the problem. But still I gained great insight from your comment. You are the one who pointed me to the right direction(BIOS) where I found Bluetooth unchecked. I enabled it and installed latest drivers. Hurray! I now have Bluetooth.
Thanks so much for the update. My Bluetooth connection just disappeared.
What I did was to go F12 > BIOS > WIRELESS. Both my WLAN and Bluetooth is checked.
I just unchecked and checked again > APPLY.
I had noticed that my bios diagnostics said that no Bluetooth was installed. So I assumed my Bluetooth internal device must have had a hardware failure. But I was pleasantly surprised when this approach of using the restore old settings in bios fixed it.

This is supper. I did not know that Bluetooth can be enabled or disabled from Bios setup utility. I found the check box for Bluetooth unchecked. I ticked it and immediately the computer restarted, dell support assistant suggested driver update which I did and my Bluetooth worked immediately. Prior to this I had tried windows as well as dell troubleshooter which both showed I was running the lates drivers. Windows showed that Bluetooth is not available on this device while dell said the machine is out of warranty hence they cannot assist. Thanks man.

My Laptop is an Asus FX505 DT and the card used for wifi and bluetooth is rtl8821ce. There are no logs to show because the adapter disappears.....like the logs show it working fine then it's just gone.....I checked for it's existence using all other commands like lspci etc. The only command that shows any output is the lsmod command which just shows me that all the modules are loaded. This issue is solved after booting into windows and then booting back into linux. I want to know how to solve this problem without using windows.
