1Her original voice is deep , she has a deep vocal range but her producers/music label made her to do this iconic nasal, throaty, "baby" voice, it's not a natural way to sing, it's a damaging vocal technique and it would be destructive/stressful for the vocal cords to sing in this way during a whole concert let alone a whole tour.

2. her songs are very overproduced and fast-paced, there's a lot going on , lot of FXs, lot of autotune, pitch correction, comping etc, it's pure entertaining pop candy and it's quite complicated to do it live unless they rework/re-adapt the songs to make them work live.

I guess she is not comfortable when she has to sing with her high pitched voice, this is not natural to her.

Honestly, when she sang Everytime live in the Onyx Hotel Tour, it felt painful for her (and for our ears )

It was much better during the BOMT era, and even the very last time I heard her live on "Something to talk about" when the range is deeper.

I also think she's very nervous and lack confidence to sing live in front of an audience.

She simply doesnt care. She started lipping to CD vocals in 2001 (I always hated that, how can a Singer lip sync to autotuned vocals?) . Its not like she stopped to sing live because of the conservatorship. No conspiracy

if youre an old fan you can totally notice why they shifted to playback during performances, go back and watch the bomt era promo performances she did completely live watch how little she danced, she didnt even attempt some of the moves but vocals were on point.

then enter the oops era when she completely shook the world with her high energy vma performance and that was it, thats when they knew the world wanted to see her dance her *** off and her career really shaped after that

and in that particular everytime performance from the onyx hotel that someone mentioned before she sounded out of breath cuz she had just finished performing one of those songs with hard choreo and there really wasnt anytime to catch her breath.

most of the artists that dance today (which are not a lot) sing only the verses live while they walk on stage and when the chorus starts the playback does too so they can dance and yell some random word live here and there without worrying about staying on key

1. She doesn't have creative control anymore like she used to. She will once she's free. In the past, she would mainly lip-sync during heavy choreographed routines, but at least she did live bits or occasional live performances.

2. Her c-ship abusers prevented her from singing live. They don't even let her do live interviews anymore (you'll notice they must be pre-recorded now - because as we saw in the UK she spoke out about it, and then it was cut out of the actual airing). Even back during the Circus tour, she would blurt our random things during those quick moments while the mic was still on as she was leaving the stage. The only times they let her talk or sing live are very carefully timed moments where they can pay attention and cut her mic when needed. That's also most likely why her Domination announcement mic was off too.

Just yesterday I listened to the entire Baby One more Time album, comparing different songs with each other ... there is an incredible difference in tone ... all because she had to have a more baby voice. As the albums progressed, they obviously kept that kind of pitch. But doing an all live show with a tone of voice that isn't yours .... well it's really tough.
