Dear Peter:
The moving story Bishop Willimon tells and tells so well is all so very familiar. I guess such sad stories are one of many that every pastor deals with over the span of his or her ministry. Fortunately for us all, running through every such incident is the endless and boundless love of a caring and forgiving God, revealed so beautifully in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. For most persons divorce is never a pleasant occurrence, and especially where children are involved. But when faith and persistence are present, many couples and their families patiently seek to build an all new life, mature and grow in the process, and are the better for it. Save for the Grace of God, there goes all of us.
