Well sorry as if I seem as if I’ve fallen off the face of the earth. My dad died quite suddenly in he spring and I’ve not been at all in communicative mood. But now I feel as if I’d like to do some RPGing again. What are the ships again that are active. And what do they need?

I would also like to start RPGíng again.

From the perspective of evolution, the great questions of life have hopeless answers. A person is a bunch of chemicals that by chance come together for a period of time and then will fall apart again at some time. There is no greater meaning to life. It, more or less, leaves out the possibility of a soul or spirit and life continuing after the death of the body.

Tuning in and catching up.  Chris, I truly sympathize.  My wife and I may be in almost exactly the same boat.  Jury still out on the medical front, but outlook not so positive.  Jobless a year now myself.  Mortgage limits my options too, which is crappy, yet working out strangely.  Slooow bleeed.

So, a belated hello to you all and my sympathies to you, Phillipa and Chris.  Nice to see you all kicking around in one form or another.

Funny you guys should all be interested in a reboot.  There's talk of voluntary consolidation of existing games in AQSG.  Reason is, I think they all died off!  Ack!

There's still some active players around here and there.  We might end up with more activity to work with if we joined on to any such efforts there.  This wouldn't mean closing this list, we can always come "home" here and play on this list, but we might have a lot more activity to run with on a joint list that has multiple ships.  Just thinking out loud, let me know what ya think.  There's a group with pretty stable admins (I think) that could be the hub for it all.  Still working out details, just wondering if that had any appeal for us?  Might be a lot of ships/activity to join on to or create over there.  No pressure, just wondering if that sounded good.

Let me know,

A suggestion, Phil and I were part of an RPG that had a great concept but never fully got off the ground. USS Quetzalcoatl. The concept was based on World War 1 and World War 2 Q ships.

A Q Ship is on the outside, a Freighter. Innocent, presenting a great target for Submarines or Pirates. When the Submarine or pirates got close, the sides dropped revealing a well armed warship. Q ships took out Submarines, Other freighters, pirates etc.

The USS Quetzalcoatl was assigned to the Gamma Quadrant interdicting pirates and enemy commercial traffic.

Thoughts?

only one thought when you are around.  But back to the RPG I don’t mind list hopping. Or we could just have our ship nicked from under our feet. Get cut off from most of the other crew. So they can join up again whenever. Maybe on a broken down ship that we’ll have to get up and running again. Sounds like my car...

Get straight out of Dodge with that!  I may have been there years ago and driven an engine or two, if I am thinking of the same place... if I ever get the option to hop over there again, I will stop in and say hi.  I'm over in Vallejo.  A fellow train geek and star trek nut?  Things just got awesome.

Had a chance to get over to the Museum in Rio Vista before?  I have some pics I took last time I was out there in an album on my Facebook.  Small sampling, but they came out pretty good.

OK, so we have 3 proposals on the table:

USS Esperanza, slipstreaming her way across the galaxy
USS Quetzocouatl, ambushing pirates (could easily guest star in either sim, as mentioned)
USS TBD, playing around in JJ Trek and blazing new trails.

We have Chris as the CO, Ted as the XO.  Jules is willing to liase with AQSG. I can get us set up on a quickie site, like the Group Spaces site so we can all add info to the ship at a common reference point.  So once we pick one we are fairly ready to kick it off.

AQSG by the way, has a new leader as of today, a new triad is forming as well.  The CO of the Thunder Fleet sims, Jeanny, aka Admiral Firestorm, is now the head of AQSG, with full blessing of Warren, Andrew and myself.  Jeanny is one of the big reasons there is an AQSG at the moment. As far as people actively working to promote the org and recruit people in, etc. she is the _only_ person doing that, and if not for her and the 8 or so games she is looking after, there wouldn't be much of an org to claim membership in.  She has the energy and drive that no one else has right now, and as such, us old fogey's are stepping aside to make sure someone keeps the lights on.  Though our pips are in a nice glass case, we'll still be around the org, and available if anything goes kablooey.

For my part, I'd just be happy to do some simming with y'all again.  I'm good with anything you guys want to do.

There's also no reason we couldn't just go mission-by-mission, make a new ship each time, see what sticks?  Why not do them all?  XD

No worries about space trains.  I will keep that in my own mind somewhere.

Should we vote on all this or something?

We call those guys in Rio Vista the Trolley Nazis ; ) We used to be called the "Portola Railroad Museum", but we changed the name to reflect the heritage and mission which is preserving what we can of the Western Pacific Railroad. My Daughter and her Husband used to live in Vallejo up by the Hospital. They are in Concord now. I myself was born in Martinez and raised in Pittsburg.
