[Main Sickbay, USS Damocles]

"Genius!" T'Nara was so impressed.  It all made sense at last.  "How did you figure this out, Lieutenant Morta?" she asked.

"Morta and Gorn associate both had this, but chemistry destroyed it.  Not get wrong ideal doctor ... Vhorani and Gorn big difference!"

"The way Vulcans and Romulans are related waaaaaaaay back but not at all alike now?  Opposite sides of the coin?"  Norse conjectured.

"Two sides of the same coin." Doctor Saveron interjected, taking a deep, shuddering breath as he tried to get some control over his reactions. He ran a hand over his gaunt features, and Ellie would be able to hear him mutter "it's a disease, it's a disease..." to himself as he shook.

"If your chemistry destroyed it, that means we can reproduce that, doesn't it?  May I take a blood sample to put into the transducer and make up a vaccine?" T'Nara asked.

"The larger transducer in the pathology laboratory will be able to make up the immunoglobulin we need in the appropriate quantities." Saveron pointed out. He took a step towards the pair, his grip on the Captain meaning that Ellie didn't get a lot of choice as to whether or not she went with him, not that he had bothered to ask her.

Not that she would have chosen any different if she *had* been asked.  There was a small part of her mind that was fighting this but not because she didn't want it, but rather because she had a feeling she shouldn't be allowing it to happen.  There was something nagging at her that she knew she should be doing and she was aware it was to do with her job but she couldn't pin down what exactly.  In the meantime, she was only too willing to go with the flow.

T'Nara and Morta went into the lab and continued their work out of sight of the company gathered in main sickbay.

Saveron keyed his access to the laboratory, the banks of gleaming instrumentation on one side matched by the manual benches on the other. This was where he had been when the trouble started. For a moment he looked around him as though trying to remember why they had come in here. Impulses only rarely felt were vying rather forcefully for his attention. It required a force of will to concentrate.

"Doctor Norse." Saveron glanced at the part-Klingon woman. They had been colleagues on Starbase Omega. "If you would be kind enough to collect blood samples for analysis, I will set up the transducer. Those of us present should provide a sufficient range of samples." They had Human, Vulcan and part-Klingon biology represented, and of course the critical Vhorani which would provide the key to the cure.

<T'Nara?>

For the first time since he'd grabbed her to fore-stall her assualt on Leigha, Saveron looked down at Ellie at his side, dressed like a hooker and clinging like a limpet. There was an intensity in that look as he studied her face for a long moment, then with an obvious force of will he made himself let go of her. He still hadn't said a thing to her, sometimes there was no need for words.

<Ellie?>

While T'Nara collected the other samples Saveron called up the necessary program on the transducer, then as the machine prepared itself to run the program he rolled up his sleeve and drew a vial of green blood from the vein in his own arm, quite in breech of protocol although most doctors could do it. He set the vial in the appropriate cartridge, held the cartridge out for Norse to slot the others into, then loaded it into the machine.

"It will take approximately thirty minutes for the transducer to run the analysis and produce the required immunoglobulin in the necessary quantities, although some will be available to treat key members of staff before then." He said tonelessly, sounding tired, and leaned against the side of the machine.

<Anyone?>

"I... would appreciate discussing your rapid analysis with you at some point, Lt. Morta. It was... impressive." The Vulcan said wearily. "But for now I will remain and monitor the analyser. I would suggest... that you leave the laboratory." He wasn't feeling particularly stable, and it was a terribly familiar feeling that made him not trust himself around others. They had all done what they needed to do.

He wanted to talk to Morta about her analysis and he wanted to discuss the issue of the Coil with Damien, but right now those things were taking a back seat. There were other things he wanted to do, that his confused biology was becoming rather insistant about, and it was a force of will to remind himself that this was disease-triggered and would pass. He closed his eyes and sighed, letting his head hang wearily. "Out." He repeated.

<Ellie?>

<Morta?>

<T'Nara?>

<Rest of the ship? Y'all got 30 minutes to finish running amok.>
